Pitbull Tackle Leopard Shark Rig

We have never been satisfied with the rigging available on the market to handle these awesome fish, so we came up with the Pitbull Tackle Leopard Shark Rig. We refined and simplified a rig that most inshore West Coast fishermen have used at some point in their life, giving attention to the little details and creating a super easy-to-use product. This rig is designed to fish any type of dead/frozen bait you prefer with an incredibly strong 5/0 premium hook. We chose to use a 20″ nylon coated 100lb steel wire for excellent abrasion resistance and strength paired with a 400lb crane swivel. When it comes to landing the fish most anglers will grab the leader with their free hand to pull the fish onto shore. We added heat-shrink tubing over both crimps to help keep those sharp wire ends contained and not spearing into your fingers during those crucial last few seconds. All you need to do is pair this rig with a weight and a slider and you are ready to fish (weight and slider not included). These rigs are perfect for both Leopard Sharks and Bat Rays.

Rigging Guide: On your main line (from the fishing rod) place a plastic weight slider onto the line. Tie your main line to the open end of the swivel, attach your lead weight to the plastic slider and your bait to the hook. Cast out and hold on tight!
